Hiking in Devon Weekend Adventure

Tackle stunning sections of the South West Coast Path to experience some of the best walks in Devon on an exciting active weekend.

What does this mean?

Overview

Holiday Highlights

  • Tackle the demanding climbs and descents of the highest coastline in England.
  • Discover Hartland Quay, as evocative a seascape as you will find in the UK.
  • Watch for wildlife, with a possibility of seeing seals (seal pups from August).
  • Explore Clovelly, a beautiful, picturesque fishing village, steeped in maritime atmosphere and history.

The South West Coast Path, stretching an impressive 600 miles, stands as Britain's longest and arguably most captivating long-distance route. Your journey along the North Devon coast offers a tantalizing glimpse of the wonders that this path beholds. Unlike the typical three months required for the entire route, over a weekend you will experience two of our favourite, challenging hikes, among the best walks in Devon.

At the heart of your weekend walking in Devon is the charming historic town of Barnstaple. Over two thrilling days, you'll hike westward and eastward from Barnstaple, first tracing the rugged path to Hartland Point, home to a solitary lighthouse. When the west wind dances with the waves against the cliffs, the spectacle is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Your second walk is further north along the Exmoor National Park coast. Here you'll walk east from Holdstone Hill, finishing at the beautiful seaside town of Lynmouth.
